Cinema E Vino Paradiso & Denner Vineyards

Where can you get private a wine tasting, Italian cuisine and a movie all under the stars?    Cinema E Vino Paradiso  travels  to selected  host wineries and private events and performs their magic.  Their 2010 host wineries are Denner (one of our favorites) and Wild Horse .You can also find them on the beach in Pismo at the  Sea crest Resort  this month.  Are you hosting a special celebration and would like to enlist their services?  Check out their website http://www.cinemaevino.com/index.html  for more information and where and when you can join them “under the stars”.

Denner has long been one of our favorite wineries in Paso. It is located on the Westside of Paso Robles in the beautiful Templeton Gap Area.   Check out recent Wine Spectator ratings (2006 Syrah 94, 2006 Dirt Worshipper 93 ,2006 Dip 2006 Syrah )

Not only do they make amazing wine, but they also have one of the most beautiful tasting rooms in Paso.  Check out their website http://www.dennervineyards.com/index.php  for more information on upcoming events or to purchase some of their wonderful wines .  The tasting room is open daily from 11 to 5.

If you are going to be in the area (perhaps staying at Villa Cantina) mark your calendars for August 28.  You can enjoy a movie &  some fabulous Denner Wine.

Watch out next week for lots of progress pics!  We are installing this weekend! In the meantime blooming in my garden this week in spite of my neglect….

Come On In!

The front entrance is beginning to look a little more welcoming. Pots and plants were purchased at my favorite nursery, Bokay in Salinas.  Jubilee flax in pots, any suggestions for under planting?  I am thinking lobelia and something else that the deer won’t eat?

Here is what the upstairs bath looked like when we purchased Villa Cantina

This is what that area looks like now

The upstairs vanity is functioning and we are waiting for the shower doors to be installed.  Vanity is from Dovetail Furniture my go to furniture company for this job!  It is reclaimed elm with a slate top.  The mirror is from Wisteria.  You can buy one here just like it

 http://www.wisteria.com/Oyster-Mirror/productinfo/W2790/

The baskets are on sale at Pier 1 for $4.95…can you believe it?

The Master Bath in progress . The limestone floor was partially complete when we purchased.  We were able to find some limestone that was pretty similar to incorporate as a liner. The stonework has been actually completed since this picture was taken.I am painting the vanity, the limestone top is being fabricated, and the travertine vessel sinks should be here any day. What do you think about the edging for the limestone counter, chiseled or straight?

The master bedroom fireplace is installed.  We still need a screen to cover the ugly “faux” firebox.

I found these beautiful doors at Patine that are to be installed in the opening to the left.  Patine http://www.patinedecor.com/Patine_Decor/Home.html  is located in the tiny beach town of La Selva Beach just south of Santa Cruz.  If you haven’t been to her shop you must go. If you frequent the Alameda or Pasadena flea markets you will recognize her as Euro Linens.  Go to  http://euro-linens.com/euro-linens/Home.html.  to find out when you can find her there.

That’s it for now.   Carpet is being installed this week.  I will be posting more photos soon as things are happening quickly from here on out.

Pier 46 Seafood Market and a Window on Things to Come

With the ongoing construction at Villa Cantina Lauren and I make a weekly trek to Home Depot. Along our route we find food and wine.  Last weekend we heeded the advice of my hairstylist (and food and wine advisor) Jericho Mora( of Twist Studio Spa) and hit Pier 46 Seafood Market.  For those of you on your way down 101 to L.A it is a quick stop off Vineyard Drive in the Trader Joes Shopping  Center.

Don’t let the simple facade fool you. They sell all kinds of fish & shellfish and  the menu is fabulous!

Go to their website  http://www.pier46seafood.com/ for their menu, directions and special events.

As I stated in my last post things are happening quickly now at Villa Cantina.  Here is a view of the partially completed patio.  Curtains in Sunbrella Regency Sand will soon grace the opening.

This past weekend was so beautiful that I couldn’t resist posting this picture anyway.  This is the view you will enjoy if you come to Villa Cantina
